MadPow and Commonwealth Health came together to look for a solution to a very common American problem: enrolling for health insurance.
The problem was set before me: design an enrollment system under blue-sky conditions, that is, design the most optimal enrollment experience that will help underprivledged and low-income families make better health insurance decisions at the time of enrollment.
My first step was to find and sit down with low income head of households (n=10) and talk about their last health insurance enrollment experience. A lot of individuals find the nomenclature of our health care system too confusing and they just wanted to know "how much [health care] would cost every month."
After in-depth interviews, and with only a few weeks turnaround, I designed several screens that captured the enrollment process. The first screen simply asks what individuals are in your family.
